Single Malts and Beer

Molly MacPherson's has the largest Single Malt selection in the SouthEast. Since many say that a Pub's reputation is in direct proportion to its beer and single malt selection - we've got that covered. Most of our single malts are displayed on English pourers, dispensing a perfect shot each time. Our beer list is also quite varied. Some selections change over time, as we try to adjust to what our clients are looking for. Don't you think you need to come in and have a few of these single malts and beers? Perhaps you'll see an old favorite, or maybe you'll try something new. Whatever you choose - enjoy the experience!

We are now offering Flights of Single Malts for you to purchase. We have five pre-selected sets of Single Malts that you can try, each highlighting something different. This way you can try a small sample of whisky to determine if you like it or not, before investing in a whole shot (or two!).

  • Starter -  5 different selections, 1 from each area of Scotland
  • Mike's Choice -  Owner Mike's 5 personal favorites, 1 from each area of Scotland (a little more pricey)
  • Highlands -  5 different selections from the Highlands of Scotland
  • Speyside -  5 different selections from the Speyside area of Scotland
  • Islay/Cambeltown -  5 different selections from the Islay and Cambeltown areas of Scotland

Individual classes for Single Malt tastings can be arranged. Tracy Clark, a Scottish lass from Savannah, will tell you the right way to taste whisky, as well as some of the details about each whisky. The class offerings are not the same as the Flights. Each class is $20 per person, and it allows you to sample 5 or 6 different single malts while you learn about what makes each unique. We also offer a Design Your Own Class - which could be a great opportunity for you to sample some single malts that really pique your interest. Or perhaps you were wondering what to do with some relatives who are coming in town to visit. Or maybe it’s just a great idea to get a few friends together or to have a party. Call or stop by for details. Beer tasting classes are also available. Ask one of the owners for more information.

Why the Region is Important to a Single Malt...

Highland malts owe their diversity to the vast size of the region and to the wildly contrasting landscapes

of its east and west coasts. The western area produces scotches of dry, firm character, with some

peatiness, while those from the north take on a heathery, spicy character. The more sheltered eastern

area, and inlands, have several fruitier varieties. Speyside, long regarded as the premium single malt

producing area, is in the Highlands. Lowland malts tend to be softer and lighter in both flavor and color;

shaped by the gentle landscapes and the temperate climate of the region. They make a good starting

point for anyone with an interest to explore single malts. Islay malts (pronounced "eye-luh") have a

distinctive character all their own; deeply infused with peat, and an undertone of sea air and iodine.

Vatted malts are blends of 100% single malts from other distilleries.
